Any new, handmade, kid friendly quilt, blanket, afghan or fleecie will make our kids happy. Please keep in mind that all quilts should be sturdy and washable, as they will be used and loved for years to come.
If you need some thought starters, patterns can be found by accessing the patterns links above.
WHOLE CLOTH QUILTS: Generally 48" in length, by the width of fabric (usually 42" or 44").
AFGHANS: Vary in size depending on the preferences of the blanketeer making it. On average, they are at least 36" square.
FLEECIE BLANKETS: Made from a single layer of heavy fleece. We cut the fabric to length to match the width of the fabric and then fringe on opposing ends. Fleece generally comes 50" to 60" wide, so the blankets are generally 50" x 50" or 60" x 60".
We strive to make quilts for all sizes of kids. It's especially important that we have larger blankets for our teens! String quilts help us fill that need.
They're easy! They're fun! And, best of all, they're just right for our teens because they are all especially bright and colorful!
If you've never made a string quilt top, here's a great tutorial. So go through your stash and find those "strings"! Or take that "I don't love it as much as I thought I would" fabric and make some strings! Choose different sizes of "strings" and make "wonky" blocks!
Bring your string tops to the March 12 Make a Blanket Day! We'll finish them up there and post pictures here on the PL site!
When you make your tops, please keep the following in mind:
